SWARMKEEPER HAS COME TO BALDUR'S GATE 3!

CLASS FEATURES

INCLUDES VERSIONS FOR "ATTACK" (LEFT), "MOVE TARGET" (MIDDLE) & "MOVE SELF" (RIGHT)

At 3rd level, a swarm of insects bonds itself to you and can assist you in battle. Once on each of your turns, after you hit a creature with an attack, you can cause the swarm to assist you in one of the following ways: the attack's target either takes 1d6 piercing damage from the swarm or is moved by the swarm up to 4.5m towards you or away from you, or the swarm moves you up to 1.5m either forward or backwards.
NOTES

Works like in 5e. The swarm in this mod is an insect swarm with corresponding visuals, since it'd be way too difficult to make another type. This effect is togglable on and off.
Note: all of these effects work with both physical and magical ranged and melee attacks, as long as it's an attack roll.

Also at 3rd level, you learn the Mage Hand cantrip if you don't already know it. When you cast it, the hand takes the form of your swarming insects.
NOTES

A reskinned Mage Hand that looks like the insect swarm that surrounds you with Gathered Swarm. Other than that it's just like your average Mage Hand.

Also adds the following spells at their corresponding levels:

3rd level: Faerie Fire
5th level: Web
7th level: Gaseous Form
13th level: Arcane Eye
17th level: Insect Plague

Beginning at 7th level, you can condense part of your swarm into a focused mass that lifts you up. As a bonus action, you gain a flying speed of 3m and can hover. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
NOTES

3m of flight isn't as impressive in BG3 as when playing TT D&D, sadly. Since the spell already allows you to hover, difficult terrain and surfaces aren't going to affect you, so the flight from this spell isn't really that impressive. Still, the effects look cool and you can still fly!

To use this flying movement, an additional highlighted Writhing Tide flight spell is unlocked on the far right on your hotbar when you cast the initial spell.

At 11th level, your Gathered Swarm grows mightier in the following ways:

The damage of Gathered Swarm increases to 1d8, a creature failing its Saving Throw against being moved by the Gathered Swarm is also knocked Prone, and when you are moved by Gathered Swarm, it gives you half cover until the start of your next turn.
NOTES

Upgrades your Gathered Swarm and replaces the passive and features with these new and improved ones.

Note: the Move Target portion of this feature will always knock the target prone if the target fails its save, so keep that in mind if you're using ranged weapons.
Note 2: Half cover doesn't technically exist in the game yet, but I added a new buff that nets you the +2 AC and advantage on Dexterity saving throws like half cover does.

When you reach 15th level, you can discorporate into your swarm, avoiding danger. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to give yourself resistance to that damage. You vanish into your swarm and then teleport to an unoccupied space that you can see within 9m of you, where you reappear with the swarm.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
NOTES
*Requires a mod that allows levelling past 12.*
When using this reaction, you disappear into your swarm until your next turn, during which you can only use the teleport granted by this feature. Sadly it doesn't happen immediately due to limitations in the game's coding, so the effects are simply a bit delayed, much like most reactions in BG3 even after the full release of the game.

Sometimes when using this, the teleportation spell portion won't be added to your hotbar automatically, so make sure you check your spellbook ('K' by default) and place it on your hotbar from there if it doesn't appear.

POTENTIAL ISSUES/DISCLAIMERS

  • Swarming Dispersal bugs out a bit if you use it when an attack misses you. Since you're supposed to use it when hit by an attack anyway (and you can see if an attack hits every time this spell triggers), I suggest only using it then to limit any strange interactions and effects.
